We have a few exciting activities going on this week. First, Mrs. McFadden, our district literacy mentor, will be in on Monday doing an activity with the students on Sheree Fitch. She is a Canadian author. One of my favorite books of hers is Mabel Murple. Here is her website if you would like to check it out. http://www.shereefitch.com/
Then on Tuesday, we have David Goss coming in to speak to the students about writing. He is a resident of Saint John and offers Walks N' Talks. He is an author and columnist.
Thursday of course is Halloween. I have had a few inquiries about bringing treats to school. If you wish to send something in, I will let the students pass them out. Also on Thursday, students from UNB Science Department will be coming in to demonstrate some Halloween Science. It should be a great presentation for the students.
In math we are working on patterns, creating t charts, extending the patterns and will be talking about variable expressions. We will discuss the monitor and fix up reading comprehension strategy in language arts and begin reviewing and exploring the 6 traits of writing in writers workshop.
Check out the game Mission 2110 on the math tab under patterns and relations!
Happy Halloween!
